RCV Engines Ltd
COMPANY PROFILE

  • About RCV

RCV Engines Limited have been developing and manufacturing their patented Rotary  Cylinder Valve internal combustion engine since 1997. Based in the United Kingdom we  have exported engines to over 50 countries attracting prestige clients including the United  States Government.  With an annual potential global market exceeding 100 million engines , RCV's innovative technology can be adapted for use in many application areas including  scooters, motorcycles, small cars, lawn mowers, brush cutters, generators and Unmanned  Air Vehicles (UAVs).  The design is already proven, both technically and commercially and is  now available to .

  • Resources

RCV employs highly qualified automotive design and production engineers.   RCV utilise a wide range of computer software including Pro-E CAD, Mechanica, WAVE, Star CFD, and have access to leading engine technology and latest manufacturing techniques.

  • Directors

The of RCV are a team of progressive and commercially experienced managers whose strategic skills have led to RCV's growth and current success

RCV ENGINE TECHNOLOGY

  • How it Works

The engine operates on a simple but elegant principle; the cylinder, incorporating the combustion chamber port, is rotated around a conventional piston and crank at 1/2 crank speed via a 2:1 gear reduction.  A fixed timing ring completes this efficient rotating valve arrangement and removes the need for any complex overhead valves, cams or electronic servo cartridges.

  • The Need for Change

Global emissions legislation has prompted many manufacturers to switch from 2-stroke designs to cleaner alternatives. RCV's simple 4-stroke design provides a natural alternative to 2-strokes and a more cost effective alternative to 4-strokes, embodying higher outputs and improved efficiency.

  • Cost
The RCV technology has lower production costs in comparison to standard 4-stroke engines.

  • Power

Combined with the benefit of a large port area, absence of complex overhead valves and lower frictional loses the RCV 4-stroke is capable of delivering higher RPM than a conventional 4-stroke.

  • Benefits

With current emissions legislation affecting all markets this design will be of particular interest to companies looking to find economic alternatives to 2-stroke and conventional 4-stroke engines.  The RCV 4-stroke design can offer the following:-
  • Proven patented design using conventional technology.
  • Uses conventional components, enabling existing plant and machinery to be used.
  • Up to 40% lower manufacturing cost compared to existing 4-stroke engines depending on application.
  • High fuel economy with emissions comparable to conventional 4-strokes.
  • Reliable 4-stroke design for long endurance.
  • Ultra compact footprint reducing vehicle packaging size and costs.

  • Evaluation of Technology

RCV are in a position to undertake engine demonstrations at it's UK facility for customers interested in evaluating the technology.
