| As with many warbirds it is important
to allow for adequate cooling in these tight cowled models.
Terry comments that the following seems to work
well to avoid any cooling issues.
The engine is fully enclosed in this model and the
standard exhausts exits at the bottom of the cowl. Cooling air
intake is through the chin intake (approximately 1.25 sq in) with a
deflector plate directing air up through the cylinder cooling vanes.
The prop back plate also has 3/4 dia. holes drilled into it allowing air
to force through the inner part of the APC prop. The outlet is 3
sq. in around the exhaust outlet and the same again into the fuselage
space back to the oil cooler outlet which is open when the gear is down. |
